an interesting presentation on "The Black Canyon Trail" all the changes, loop trails, new maps, how is work progressing and plans for the future. One of our members, (Dan) brought in a rock with gold in it, he had just found near BCC. We all thought it was pyrite or metal shavings left by a tool, but when we looked at it under a 30X microscope we could clearly see it was gold with minor pyrite. What a find. A closeup picture is on the "BCC informational + CD" Rev2Ja on the Miscellaneous page. There were 16 in attendance for this meeting.
The mystery rock for the month, its mostly black & red, doesn't fizz in acid, has bands, is very hard, heavy
and is fairly common in the BCC area. Chris Anderson came closest to IDing the BIF (Banded Iron Formation) rock.
